Full list of AliExpress payment methods: which is the best?

So, you have your AliExpress purchase ready in your cart, you are going to pay and you think: “What payment method should I choose now, are they all equally good?”

Just so you don't get overwhelmed by so many payment methods available, we'll analyze them to see which one is the most convenient for you.

Remember: you can read the official documentation on AliExpress payment methods by clicking here.

Are all AliExpress payment methods reliable?

First of all, we're here to assure you that all payment methods offered by AliExpress are 100% reliable.

A company as important as AliExpress would not risk losing the trust of its buyers by accepting a payment method that is not secure.

Best AliExpress payment methods

While it is true that all AliExpress payment methods are reliable, some can benefit you more than others.

So, let's look at them all in order of (our) preference:

1. Alipay (debit or credit card)

Main article: AliExpress and Alipay

Availability: Worldwide

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (excellent)

AliExpress created Alipay to handle payments on AliExpress. Their system is very similar to PayPal: they hold the payment, until we confirm that our order has arrived in good condition.

All payments you make by debit or credit card are made through Alipay, so if you have ever paid by debit or credit card on AliExpress, you may have already set up your Alipay account without realizing it.

Alipay is available in any country in the world

Alipay is AliExpress' payment method per excellence and the most used today, as it is the only one that the website offers in any country in the world.

As you may have noticed, AliExpress has made a strong commitment to its payment method and offers you bonuses if you use it (for every three purchases you get a small discount).

In Alipay you can link any credit or debit card of the following types:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Maestro
  • Diners Club
  • JCB
  • MNP
  • Discover
  • Hipercard
  • elo
  • Troy

Virtual or prepaid cards: the alternative if you don't have a credit or debit card

If you don't have a credit or debit card or prefer not to share your bank details on AliExpress (although there is no reason to be suspicious), you can always get a virtual or prepaid card. These cards can be recharged with the amount you want, so you can never be overcharged.

(We insist: we are not aware that this has ever happened).

These cards are free and you can use them to pay on Alipay without any problem.

If you want to read more about this payment method read our article on Virtual Cards in AliExpress.

2. Paypal

Main article: Does AliExpress accept PayPal?

Availability: only some countries, such as USA, UK, Australia, Canada… (full list here)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (excellent)

As you may already know, Paypal is a payment platform that allow us to link our bank details to an email. Then, we can pay with that email in a simple and secure way.

Also with Paypal your bank details are never shared with the online store: to pay, you are redirected to Paypal and there you confirm the payment.

Pros

Undoubtedly, Paypal is the preferred payment method for many, as it is known worldwide and many online stores offer it as a guarantee of security to attract new buyers.

In addition to how convenient their email system results, there is a great advantage: if you have problems with an order and the AliExpress dispute has not been favorable, through Paypal you will always be able to claim your money back again.

Also with Paypal you can pay for your purchases on AliExpress without having a debit or credit card: you only have to make a transfer from your bank account to Paypal to have credit available at the time you're going to pay for your order.

Cons

Paypal's biggest drawback is the love-hate relationship it has with AliExpress. This means that in the countries where it is available, the terms and conditions change every few months. It also tends to disappear as a payment method.

Evidently, AliExpress's goal is to boost its payment method (Alipay), ahead of all others. That is why it is clear that its biggest rival is Paypal, although at the same time, having Paypal available is attractive for new buyers because of its reliability.

3. Google Pay / Apple Pay

Availability: United States, Spain and other countries

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (remarkable)

Google Pay and Apple Pay are mobile payment services to store your debit or credit card in your smartphone and quickly pay for any purchase from your smartphone without having to re-enter data.

On AliExpress, this payment method will be available to you depending on whether you are browsing from an iOS (Apple Pay) or Android (Google Pay) device.

If you prefer not to have any card stored in AliExpress and you don't have Paypal, this is a good option.

Other methods

Webmoney

Availability: Germany, Portugal, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Perú…

With Webmoney, you can pay for your AliExpress purchases without paying foreign exchange fees. Of course, the site charges a small fee for this transaction (even so, it's still worth using it).

Remember that AliExpress only accepts as currency the US dollar, euro, pound sterling and Russian rubles, so in countries with a local currency different from these, banks apply a commission for currency exchange (so it is interesting to use this type of payment platforms).

Qiwi

Availability: United Kingdom

Qiwi is an e-wallet in which we can save our money to recharge our prepaid Visa card, whether physical or virtual.

iDeal

Availability: Netherlands

iDeal is a secure payment system for electronic commerce: once you have registered, you can pay by bank transfer just by indicating your bank account number, username and password.

Klarna

Klarna allows you to pay for your purchase only when you have received it and also offers you protection in case of problems with the order.

This service has no costs (they will only charge you interest if your account does not have money when the charge is passed to you).

Sofort

Availability: Germany

With Sofort you can easily pay for your purchases by bank transfer.

You just have to register in Sofort and when you choose this payment method, AliExpress will redirect you to its website. Now enter your account number, username and password and confirm the payment.

Giro Pay

Availability: Germany

Giro Pay is a system very similar to Sofort: you can pay by bank transfer by registering on their website and entering your bank details to make the purchase.

Oney (financing)

Availability: Spain

AliExpress has recently included payment in installments through the financial company Oney, something that many of us have been asking for for a long time.

Oney lends you the money for your purchase, so that you can pay it back in 3 or 4 installments, paying a small interest. As long as you meet these conditions, you can apply for this payment method:

  • Make a purchase between 50 and 2,500 €.
  • Pay with a Spanish Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card.
  • No prepaid, virtual or American Express cards are accepted.
  • The bank card must have an expiration date longer than the chosen terms.

This is very interesting if you need to buy something of higher value, but you don't want to spend all the money at once.

Blik

Availability: Poland

Blik is a payment service provider available in 15 Polish banks.

It is very simple to use: you will only have to have this service active in your online banking and once you confirm the payment in AliExpress, you will receive a code in the bank's app that you will have to enter to finalize your purchase.

Przelewy24

Availability: Poland

With Przelewy24 you can make your payments by bank transfer (you just have to register on their website and enter your details to pay on AliExpress).

Which one is the best?

In our opinion, and without knowing all the local payment methods in detail, both Alipay and PayPal are excellent options. The first one has always good discounts and the second one gives you an extra buyer protection.

    Hi
I have a problem and hope you can help me.
How can the seller adjust the price when we agree on a price.
When I order something and the seller had to adjust the price. Only one payment method is displayed and that is card payment.
I have written several times to AliExpress Customer Service without success.
Why no one knows the problem.

    Thanks

    • Hi Abdaul,

The best option is trying a different payment method as “webmoney”, then AliExpress will redirect you to an external platform. Close the windows and the payment will be outstanding and the seller can adjust the price. You can change the payment system after.

      Regards
