How long does a refund take?
If you're waiting for the refund of an order after a dispute or a canceled order, you should know that refunds are returned to you in the same way you made the payment (bank card, PayPal…). They usually take between 3 and 20 working days to be reflected in your account.
Although refunds usually get resolved quickly, we understand that you might get nervous and want to take action. However, it's important that you don't hurry. Just let this period pass (sometimes it could even take around a month).
What to do if a refund does not arrive
First of all, keep in mind that if AliExpress has notified you of the refund order, it's very unlikely that it will not reach you. Therefore, if it's the first time you face this process, we insist that you have patience and don't worry because AliExpress is a serious company and you will not lose your money.
If the estimated time has passed and the refund has not arrived, you can contact an AliExpress agent through the platform's chat (here) or you can go directly to your bank to explain your problem.
What to keep in mind when waiting for a refund
Before contacting AliExpress or your bank, let's take a look at a few things to check for:
When does a refund take more than 20 days?
This time always starts counting from the moment AliExpress accepts the refund and since they work during working days, weekends don't count, and also with holiday periods, it could still take much longer.
Check the day of purchase in the bank statement
In addition to reviewing in detail the latest movements in your bank account, you should also check the day you made the payment of your purchase: some banks when they receive the refund of a purchase place the movement of the refund on the same day of the purchase.
For this reason, you may have the payment and the refund together in your bank statement and you may not have realized you had received it because it was too late.
PayPal payments
In the case of PayPal, if you paid with your PayPal balance, the money will arrive in your PayPal account.
On the other hand, if you made the payment through PayPal but with the bank card associated with your account (the most common), the money will arrive in your bank account.
Payments with AliPay
If you paid with AliPay, the refund of your order will be instantaneous and will be sent directly to your AliPay account, not to your bank account.
I canceled my bank card and I am waiting for a refund: Will I get it?
If for some reason you have had to cancel the bank card you had linked to AliExpress and you are waiting for a refund, don't worry: even if you have a new card, the bank will redirect the refund to your bank account without any issues.
If you have also closed your bank account, (usually) nothing happens: go to your bank with your identification document to have the money credited in cash.
It's better to wait a few days to do this because if they have not received it yet, you will have to come back later to get your money back.
